H.K. Hallett Managing Director |
H.K. joined WealthTrust Advisors in 2004 as managing director,
overseeing investment portfolios for wealthy individuals, retirement plans,
endowments and foundations. In addition to individually managed core equity portfolios,
his group conducts due diligence on external investments and managers with complementary
strategies to provide broad asset allocation and investment planning services.
Prior to joining WealthTrust Advisors, H.K. served as president
of James M. Myers Research, Inc., an investment advisory firm, since
1989, and also managed operations for its affiliated broker-dealer,
James M. Myers & Co. He worked for Trust Company Bank of Georgia and
Peoples Bank of North Carolina (now RBC Centura) before joining Carolina
Securities Corporation, where he co-managed the Charlotte office.
H.K. received his M.B.A. in finance from Georgia State University.
He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Woodberry
Forest School. He is active in the Charlotte community and currently serves on
the Charlotte Metro YMCA Board as chairman of the investment committee. |

Alexander B. Miles Managing Director |
Alex joined WealthTrust Advisors in
2004 as managing director and senior portfolio manager, directing investment
strategies for the Charlotte office. He manages the office’s Value Opportunity Strategy
and co-manages customized investment portfolios with H.K. Hallett. In addition,
Alex is portfolio manager for certain WealthTrust Advisors' private investment funds.
Before joining WealthTrust Advisors, Alex managed portfolios at James M. Myers Research, Inc.
and served as director of marketing for the Myers Limited Partnerships,
consisting of three long-short investment partnerships.
Alex received his M.B.A from Kenan-Flagler Business School
at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During
graduate school, he worked to develop an internal hedged equity
product for high net worth and institutional clients for Lehman
Brothers in New York. Prior to graduate school, he served as
tournament operations and marketing manager for The PGA Tour,
Inc. in Ponte Vedra, Florida. He earned a B.A. from Emory
University and graduated from The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville,
Connecticut. He is a coach and volunteer with Dilworth Little League. |

William T. Grasty
Director of Business Development |
William joined WealthTrust Advisors
in 2005 as director of business development overseeing sales and marketing for the Charlotte office.
He serves as a primary point of contact for prospective investors and works closely with clients to
manage relationships on behalf of the firm. In addition, William is responsible for marketing certain
WealthTrust Advisors' private investment funds.
Prior to joining WealthTrust Advisors, William co-founded
a manufacturing and wholesale company with emphasis on operational
strategies in China. In addition, he worked for Hewlett-Packard in
San Francisco in various marketing and business development roles.
He also worked closely with HP's venture capital group, focusing on
the emerging technologies arena. Prior to business school, he worked
at First Union Capital Markets in the investment banking group.
William received his M.B.A. from the Owen School of Management at Vanderbilt
University. He earned a B.A. from the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated from Episcopal High School. |

Brian Smyth M.B.A. Analyst |
Brian joined WealthTrust Advisors
in 2006 and serves as an analyst for the Charlotte office,
supporting the firm's due diligence and portfolio construction initiatives.
In 2004, Brian founded Perennial Research LLC and launched Hubbert Peak Partners LP, an energy focused investment fund. Since 1995, he has worked as an analyst and partner at several
hedge funds and investment banks in Charlotte,
including Williamson Investors LP, Myers Limited
Partnerships and Triarch Capital Partners LLC.
Brian received a B.A. in journalism and history from the
University of Oklahoma in 1988. From 1988 to 1992, he served in
the United States Navy as an officer aboard a guided-missile cruiser
based in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a Desert Storm veteran.
In 1995, he received his M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Virginia Starnes
Operations Manager |
Virginia joined WealthTrust Advisors in 2004
as operations manager for the Charlotte office, overseeing trading activity,
custodial relationships, and portfolio administration.
Previously, she served as a trader and portfolio administrator for
James M. Myers & Co. and also worked with Paul Reynolds' firm,
Triangle Securities, as cashier and wire operator until her move
to Charlotte in 2000. After retiring from a retail career in 1997,
Ginny entered the investment industry with Wheat First Butcher Singer
(now Wachovia Securities) in Raleigh, NC.
Virginia graduated from John T. Hoggard High
School in Wilmington, NC and received a B.S. in mathematics
and psychology from Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC. |

Carol Layton
Client Services Manager |
Carol joined WealthTrust in 2004 as client services manager
for the Charlotte office, providing client and account services, and general administrative support.
In addition to her client service role, Carol serves as a trader and portfolio administrator for WealthTrust
Advisors, having maintained a similar role during her tenure with James M. Myers & Co. Prior to that, she spent
many years in the healthcare industry in medical group practice administration, most recently serving as a clinic
manager for First Charlotte Physicians.
A Charlotte native, Carol graduated from Myers Park High, attended the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill, and graduated magna cum laude from Queens College with a B.A. in business administration. |

J. Russell Ogden III, CFA Managing Director |
Russell joined WealthTrust Advisors in 2004 as
managing director and has over 30 years experience
in the financial services industry, primarily managing portfolios
for private investors.
Formerly, Russell was an executive vice president and
portfolio manager for Citizens Bank & Trust in Paducah.
A native of Louisville, Russell earned his bachelor's degree in
economics from Centre College and his master's degree in economics
from the University of Kentucky. He received his Chartered Financial
Analyst designation in 1978. |

Ralph "Chip" Pickard, JD, CFP Managing Director |
Chip joined WealthTrust Advisors in 2004
as managing director and is responsible for overseeing investment portfolios
and managing firm activities.
Chip began his career in the trust department of
Citizens Bank & Trust with Russell Ogden in 1993. After rising
to become the vice president and trust department manager, Chip
left to join Russell at Davidson Partners Investment Counsel.
In addition to portfolio management, Chip's expertise includes
financial planning and consulting for individuals and small businesses.
Chip holds a B.A. with high distinction and departmental honors, a M.A.
in public administration and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky. |

Benjamin C. Brazzell Portfolio Manager |
Benjamin C. Brazzell joined WealthTrust Advisors in 2007
as a portfolio manager based in the Paducah office. In this capacity, he manages high net
worth investor portfolios and spearheads business development initiatives for the firm.
Prior to joining WealthTrust, he was an investment analyst at SHDR Investment Advisers
where he initiated investment manager and asset allocation research to identify funds and asset
classes with strong fundamental metrics. He also held positions at Morgan Stanley and Northwestern
Mutual where he developed comprehensive marketing campaigns to generate new business.
Ben earned his M.B.A. and B.B.A. in Finance from the University
of Kentucky where he graduated summa cum laude. Ben is a Level III Candidate in the
Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Program, affiliate member of the CFA Institute and member of the CFA
Society of Nashville. |
